lyrics

The constant pitter patter
Of a leaking kitchen sink
And a moth slamming harder and harder
Into glass can make you think
Of how such a problem, can be so clear
It’s the transparency, that makes it easy to forget they’re here

I tend to ignore, and sink a little more
To the dampest, dark, and dirtiest spots on this apartment floor
But when I step aside
It’s clear to see that I was just too close to this before

Woven through stormy weather
The sound of shifting winds
Float through the leaves and whisper
Hymns light and thin
As the house, it rattles within its bones
And the pitter patter of rhythmic tones

Help me ignore, and sink a little more
To the dampest, dark, and dirtiest spots on this apartment floor
But when I step aside
It’s clear to see that I was just too close to this before

Slow to start like peering through a pinhole at what came and went
Ten thousand miles deep I find relief can be a steep ascent

Because everyday just gets farther away
And I seem to have a knack for being the straw that breaks the camel’s back
Then walks away

I tend to ignore and sink a little more
To the dampest, dark, and dirtiest spots on this apartment floor
But when I step aside
It’s clear to see that I was just too close to this before
Too close to this before, too close to this before

He spent most of his life in Portland, Maine; hopping along the rocky coast in the summer, and cooped up with a guitar during the frigid winters, and now lives in Brooklyn, NY. ... more
